A tiny voice asked, “Is he the one?”
The other two gave a small nod and replied. “It is him. We
must hurry though we cannot risk being seen.”
“What is it we can do for him, that he requested?” The small
voice asked , eyeing the room wearily.
“He made a wish in the fountain of our garden that we heal
him so his mama and papa won’t be sad for him anymore. He feels like all he
does is make everyone sad because they can’t help him and he doesn’t want that
anyone.”
“Very well. I will see what can be done for the boy; it is a
very selfless wish and one with pure and good intentions.”
The small creature fluttered down onto the bed near the face
of the sleeping boy. He did not wake.
Reached its small hand out to the boy’s cheek, she laid It gently to not
disturb him. Light began to creep slowly out of her hand onto the boy’s skin
and then inside as if it were being absorbed from within. Soon his whole body
was glowing a soft golden color and the small creature pulled her hand back as
the glow began to fade.
Fluttering back away from the bed to her companions she gave
them a nod.
“It is done. The boy is no longer sick, his wish has been
granted.”
“Thank you Oracle.”
She nodded with her reply. “Remember though, my gifts are
not limitless two miracles remain make sure the recipients are deserving. Just
as this boy was. Summon me when you’ve found another”
And with her parting words, she vanished.
